Webster Reservoir has blue-green algae once again

In what seems to be a repeat of the last couple of years with the good amounts of moisture received in our area, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), has issued several public health advisories for Kansas lakes due to bluegreen algae, one of which includes a warning for Webster Reservoir in Rooks County.

There are always many people who stop to take a look in our front window and we always receive comments which include how happy they are that we continue this long-standing tradition.

The menus for the week beginning Monday, June 7, are as follows: Monday—Baked spaghetti, peas and carrots, bread, hot cinnamon apple slices. Tuesday—Chef salad, watermelon, crackers, pudding. Wednesday—Smokies, baked potato, broccoli, bread, mixed fruit. Thursday—Liver and onions and gravy, mashed pota toes, seasoned carrots, bread, tropical fruit. Friday—Chicken and rice casserole, California blend vegetables, bread, fruit cobbler.

Stockton United Methodist Church to host Vacation Bible School

The Stockton United Methodist Church (204 North Elm) is excited to share that Mike and Glenda Mann will be back this summer for their Vacation Bible School (V.B.S.) starting on Monday, June 7th through Friday, June 11th. The school will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each morning and is open from ages four years old through sixth-grade. The program is “Let Me Tell You Who Jesus Is!” The Manns will incorporate illusions, puppets, music, storytelling and balloons throughout the week with the closing program scheduled for Friday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m.

Enjoy Stockton’s Peony Festival this Saturday, May 29th

It’s time for the annual Peony Festival, sponsored by the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce, so get ready to enjoy a fun-filled day in Stockton this Saturday! The events start early with a FREE pancake feed and a Poker/RockWalk, with a Vendor Fair on Main Street throughout the day with over twenty vendors selling their wares and food. Plus, this year there will be a cornhole tournament, a wheelbarrow and container gardening program, games, a parade, peonies for sale and a sidewalk chalk art contest.
