Body Earth Day began in 1970 when it was created by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson. It is celebrated every year on April 22nd with the intention of raising awareness about pollution, and taking care of the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling resources.

Body THIS AND THAT * Say it isn’t so! “NCIS: New Orleans” is done after this season! Their last episode airs in May. I love this series even though I am still not over the fact that the show killed off Christopher LaSalle.

Body * I am truly going to miss what I still refer to as the Scott Variety Store (Main Street Trading Post) in Stockton since it will need to be demolished.

Body The story of the Easter Basket Green Grass is like the palms that lay upon the ground for Jesus’ parade. Purple reminds me of the time that Jesus shared with his disciples a meal of bread and wine.

Body God so loved the world of now and then And all the loved ones who followed Him He gave to the world a Son on the earth As Mary gave to God this Child of birth. He grew up to be a carpenter lad Built a place of worship with what He had.

Body Hey, my pretty girl, I can’t believe you are eight! Time sure does fly by When your life is so great! You are the coolest girl around! And it’s great style you got, You are my lovely and sassy rose. Plus the way you care about things means a lot.

Body THIS AND THAT * The Monkees were and will always be one of my favorite music groups since I watched their TV show when I was growing up and still watch the reruns today. I also have several of their albums because they had some great songs and Davy sure could play that tambourine!

Body THIS AND THAT * Hey, who remembers Mr. Shier’s junior high English class? Do you all remember when we had to memorize the poem “Daffodils” by William Woodsworth? If nothing else, it does remind me of March and spring!!

Body * I want to take this opportunity to THANK the Rooks County’s school districts and the health care/medical personnel, as well as all of the teachers and school staff who made it a priority to keep the schools open during this pandemic.

Body * The other weekend I had a Denzel Washington movie marathon and I didn’t even plan for it! It just sort of happened. First, I watched his Oscar winning performance in “Training Day,” followed by the movie remake of “The Magnificent Seven.
