At the invitation of Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, Cason Iwanski of Stockton was selected to attend the 42 nd Annual Governor's Scholar Awards Program on May 4, in Topeka. The recognition ceremony honors the top academic one percent of Kansas high school seniors.

The Rooks County Health Center’s 71st annual Hospital District meeting was held on Friday, May 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the hospital meeting room.

Fifth Grade Smoky Hills PBS (SHPBS) is thrilled to unveil the 2025 PBS KIDS Writers Contest winners. This year's contest received an inspir-ing number of entries from students in grades 1 through 5, each one showcasing imagination, heart, and unique voices from our local communities in Central and Western Kansas.

The 130th Graduating Class of Stockton High School will receive their diplomas this Saturday, May 10th, at 2:00 p.m. at the SHS gym.

A special meeting of the Rooks County Health Center Board of Directors was held last Tuesday, April 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.

The Rooks County Health Center Board elections were held on Friday, May 2nd before the annual meeting at the hospital. The five candidates running for the two open seats were Matthew Benoit, Jay Casey, Chuck Comeau, Randall Hrabe, and Anna Muir.

The Stockton Fire Department was called out on Friday, April 25th, at approximately 3:30 p.m. for mutual aid by the Plainville Fire Department for a house fire on SE 3rd Street in Plainville.
