It was a perfect day for the season’s first Rooks County Farm & Flea Market, held on Sunday, May 11th, in Stockton. The Market takes place at the Stockton Senior Center, located at 201 South Walnut.

On Friday, May 2nd, Chelsey Forester officially received her pastor’s license during the Ordination Service at Bethel Life Center in Wichita. She obtained her certification in August 2023 after restarting her journey in April 2022, as the pandemic had slowed her progress toward her ultimate goal.

Those wanting to file for any open positions on the city councils/commissions, school boards, or extension district in Rooks County have until noon on Monday, June 2, to do so. The 2025 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 4th.

The Rooks County Commission held a short business meeting on Tuesday, May 6th. They started with a 30-minute executive ses-sion to discuss non-elected personnel with the three commissioners, Jake Prockish, Tracy Rudman, Tim Berland, and clerk Laura Montgomery in attendance. There was no further discussion when they returned to the open meeting.

The first order of business for the Stockton City Commission at their meeting on Tuesday, May 5th was the approval of the Consent Agenda which included the Solomon Valley Manor gross payroll for $103,306.39, the Solomon Valley Manor warrants for $121,141.68, the City of Stockton gross payroll for $103,464.82, the City of Stockton warrants for $214,931.57, and the April 15th regular meeting minutes.

Stockton High School held its Awards Night on Wednesday, May 7th, honoring the students with the presentation of athletic and organizational accomplishments. There was also special recognitions and the presentation of scholarships, which are as follows: Three Sport Letterman: Ava Dix, Saj Snyder, Kolt Kuhlmann, Aidyen Kerr, and Vincent Thayer; Four-Year Sport Letterman: Holden Burton, Deacon Creighton, Ava Dix, Jaxon Dunlap, Jackson Gasper, Ashlyn Hahn, Cason Iwanski, Aubrey Kesler, Emerson Lowry, Ryan Mongeau, Brin Muir, Ella Snyder, and Bodye Stithem; Hobart FCE Scholarship: Ava Dix and Jozie Ludy;

You weren't alone if you were confused about what happened with the 2025 Stockton High School Graduation section last week. The Sentinel staff created a special pull-out section for graduation, which was intended to include pages 11-14.

A total of 350 votes were cast in the 2025 Board of Directors Election, an increase of 42 votes compared to the 308 votes in 2024. The election for two seats on the Rooks County Health Center Board of Directors took place at the hospital on Friday, May 2, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
