Kansas Court of Appeals to hear oral argument at FHSU

A three-judge panel, including Judge Angela (Chesney) Coble, from the Kansas Court of Appeals, will hear oral arguments on Tuesday, April 8th, at Fort Hays State University in the Black and Gold Room in Memorial Union beginning at 9:00 a.m. The arguments are open to the public, and students from Fort Hays State University and high schools in and around Hays have been invited to attend.

Large crowd attends RCH Board meeting

With the termination of RCH employees, Chief Nurse Pam Harmon and Specials Projects Manager Stephanie Bjornstad, announced by the Rooks County Health Center Board earlier in the month, the meeting room was filled to capacity with approximately 40 people at the Board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, March 25th. Employees of the hospital and other interested parties were there to show their support for the two women.

He informed her that they do not intend to proceed with the current proposed boar stud farm project and withdrew their request with Rooks County.

Smithfield Farms withdraws request from Rooks County

At the March 25th Rooks County Commission weekly meeting, the commissioners announced that Darin Waylett from Smithfield Farms had reached out to county attorney Danielle Muir. He informed her that they do not intend to proceed with the current proposed boar stud farm project and withdrew their request with Rooks County. The organization also withdrew its application with KDHE at this time. If Smithfield Farms makes a plan to proceed with a different proposal for the project, they will reach back out.

City holds short regular session

At the start of the March 18th Stockton City Commission meeting, the commissioners approved the Consent Agenda. Items listed were the Solomon Valley Manor gross payroll for $71,207.66, the Solomon Valley Manor warrants for $63,674.79, the City of Stockton warrants for $268,691.05, and the March 4th regular meeting minutes.

Executive Sessions take up most of County meeting

The Rooks County Commission started its weekly meeting on Tuesday, March 18th, with a forty-five-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel. After the session, they returned to the open meeting and met with road and bridge supervisor Eric Biggs.
