Body On Monday afternoon, April 14th, the Plainville Fire Department called for mutual aid for a fire south of Codell. The Stockton, Natoma, and Ellis County Fire Departments responded with Stockton on site for three hours. A power line started the fire, and several acres burned.

Body It’s spring-cleaning time! The Stockton City-Wide Cleanup (trash customers within the Stockton City limits) is next week April 28th through May 2nd.

Body All are welcome to attend the Rooks County Historical Society’s annual meeting this Sunday, April 27th, at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Museum located at 921 South Cedar in Stockton.

Body I’m Matt Benoit, and I was lucky enough to grow up in Damar, where community really means something. Both of my parents were first responders and active in just about everything around town, so I learned early on the value of giving back.

Body Jay Casey has been a lifelong resident of Rooks County, being proud of the fact that his Great Grandparents were Irish immigrants to Rooks County homesteading in 1878. The Casey’s have continued to Farm and Ranch in the Corning Township area for now 5 generations.

Body Chuck Comeau is a restaurateur and managing partner of Breaks Food Concepts Hays LLC, operating Breaks Eatery and Bar in Hays, Kansas.

Body I have been a lifelong resident of Rooks County, graduating from Plainville High School in 1971 and from Fort Hays State University in 1975 with a degree in Business Administration and minors in Accounting and Agriculture.

Body Anna Muir has served K-State Research and Extension for over 25 years as a Family and Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development Agent. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to community well-being throughout her career by implementing innovative educational programs.

Body After the Rooks County Commission held a thirty-minute executive session to discuss negotiations at the start of the weekly meeting on Tuesday, April 8th, they returned to the open session.
