The Plainville Cardinals kicked off the 2026 football season in front of their home crowd Friday night, welcoming the Phillipsburg Panthers to town. Points were hard to come by for the Cardinals in their season debut, as Phillipsburg held Plainville to a field goal on its way to a 14-3 victory.

The Stockton Tigers opened their 2026 football season on the road last Friday, traveling to Scandia for a matchup with the Pike Valley Panthers. The Panthers came away with the victory, defeating the Tigers 38-20 and handing Stockton its first loss of the young season.

Friday night was about more than the final score for the Palco Roosters. For the first time in 12 years, a Palco football team took its home field wearing the school’s black and gold as the Roosters welcomed the Golden Plains Bulldogs for their season opener.

The Stockton Lady Tigers made their first home appearance of the season last Tuesday, splitting a pair of matches against Lincoln and Tescott to improve their season record to 3-1. Stockton opened the triangular against Lincoln in a match that went the distance.

The Stockton Lady Tigers got their 2026 volleyball season off to a strong start Friday, August 28, picking up a pair of victories in their season-opening triangular at Natoma. Stockton came away with wins over both Chase and host Natoma to begin the season with a 2-0 record.

The Plainville Cardinals got their first taste of action Friday evening, participating in a preseason jamboree at Larned as they prepare for the start of the 2026 high school football season. The Cardinals won’t have to wait long to put their preseason work to the test.

The fall sports season is underway for the Plainville Junior High Cardinals, with the volleyball team already seeing its first action and the football team preparing to take the field for the first time.
