The Stockton High School Lady Tigers capped their season with a strong showing at the KSHSAA Girls 3-1A State Wrestling Championships, held Friday and Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. Competing against the best in Class 3-1A, Stockton brought home two state medals, highlighted by senior Carolina Northup’s fifth-place finish and senior Saj Snyder’s sixth-place medal performance.

On Monday, February 23, the Logan-Palco Trojans traveled to Ransom to play Western Plains in the quarterfinal round of the sub-state basketball tournament. Trailing in the fourth quarter, the Trojans came roaring back in the final period, outscoring the Bobcats 17-4 to capture the 38-35 win.

The KSHSAA 3-2-1A Regional Wrestling Tournament was held last Friday and Saturday in Norton, and four Plainville Cardinals punched their tickets to state competition. The top four finishers in each weight class qualified for the 2026 KSHSAA State Wrestling Championships, which will be held next Friday and Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

Rooks County will be well represented this weekend as area wrestlers travel to Hays for the 2026 KSHSAA 3-2-1A State Wrestling Championships at Gross Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Fort Hays State University. The two-day tournament begins Friday and concludes Saturday, bringing together the top qualifiers from across the state.

The Stockton Tigers welcomed the Plainville Cardinals to Tiger Gymnasium last Tuesday night for a Rooks County matchup that saw Plainville take control early and roll to a 77-31 victory. The Cardinals came out firing, pouring in 32 points in the opening quarter to seize a commanding 32-13 lead.

The Mid-Continent Elementary League Wrestling Tournament was held Thursday, February 19, in Ellis, and it proved to be a banner day for the Plainville Cardinals. The Plainville boys captured the MCEL team championship with 179.5 points, outdistancing Norton (166.5) and Phillipsburg (129.5).
