The Plainville Cardinals track team competed in the 2026 Mid-Continent League Track Meet last Thursday in Smith Center, bringing home four individual league championships and a fourthplace finish for the boys’ team.

The Plainville Cardinals saw their 2026 baseball season come to an end last Thursday as they fell to the Stanton County Trojans in Regional play at Johnson City. The Cardinals finished the season with a 7-14 overall record.

The Stockton Junior High track team wrapped up its 2026 season on Tuesday, May 12, competing in the Pike Trails League Track Meet held in Tescott. The Tigers’ 8th-grade girls turned in an impressive performance, placing third as a team behind several strong individual and relay finishes.

The Plainville Cardinals golf team competed in a pair of tournaments last week, earning fourth-place honors at the Hill City Invitational on Friday, May 8, before placing fifth at the Mel Schremmer Tournament in Phillipsburg on Tuesday, May 12.

The 2026 Mid-Continent League Golf Tournament was held at the Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course in Hays on the par-71, 18-hole layout, with the Plainville Cardinals finishing 11th as a team with a score of 363.

The Stockton High School track team traveled to Tescott last Thursday to compete in the Northern Plains League Track Meet, with several Tigers earning points in a strong showing against league competition. Freshman Lyllyn McNulty had a very productive day for the Tigers, highlighted by a league championship in the long jump with a leap of 14-10.5. McNulty also scored points in three additional events, placing fourth in the triple jump at 31-7, fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.41, and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 52.58.

The Plainville High School golf team turned in another strong performance Monday, May 4, competing in the 2026 Railroader 27 held at Ellis Golf Course in Ellis. Hill City won the tourney with a 469, while Hoxie was second with a 477.

The Plainville High School track and field teams turned in an impressive performance at Victoria’s Red Pfeifer Invitational held Thursday, May 7, with the Cardinal boys capturing the team championship and the girls placing runner-up.

The Plainville High School golf team competed on Monday, April 27, at the Thomas More Prep-Marian Invitational held at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays. Competing on what was described as the most difficult course on the Cardinals’ regular season schedule, Plainville turned in a solid performance, finishing fifth as a team with a score of 362.
