Plainville Junior High Track set to open season with strong numbers

The Plainville Junior High track teams are ready to begin their 2026 season, traveling to Smith Center on Tuesday, April 7 for their first meet of the year. Coaches Hayley Brown, Garrett Smith, and Brady Tien will guide a large and enthusiastic group of 47 athletes this spring, including 22 boys and 25 girls.

Cardinals earn multiple MCL All-League honors

The Plainville Cardinals were well represented on the 2025-26 Mid-Continent League Boys’ Basketball All-League Team, highlighted by junior guard Joey Dintino earning First Team honors for his standout season on the court. Dintino’s leadership and scoring ability played a key role in the Cardinals’ success this year, making him one of the league’s top performers.

Garcia reflects on state championship season and making history at PHS

When Plainville High School junior Lillian Garcia stepped onto the mat at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays on February 27 and 28, she had one goal in mind—finish what she had been working toward for years. Garcia did exactly that, capturing the 170-pound title at the 2026 KSHSAA 3-1A State Wrestling Championships, becoming the first female state wrestling champion in Plainville High School history.

Cardinals’ season ends in sub-state semifinals

The Plainville Cardinals boys basketball team saw its season come to a close last Wednesday night following a hard-fought 52-48 loss to the TMP Monarchs in the semifinal round of the 2A Sub-State Basketball Tournament in Hays. The tournament was hosted by Smith Center.
