Corky Hagan was involved in a home elevator accident last Tuesday afternoon which resulted in injury. Hagan had taken the elevator in his home to the basement, and on the way back up the cable broke, sending him back down onto the cement floor.

A semi truck encountering a group of cattle on Highway 183 leads the accident reports this week. On July 24, at 9: 30 p.m., a semi, driven by Mark Edward Hunt, of Albuquerque, N.M., struck a large group of cattle on the highway.

On Friday of last week the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), updated its list of public health advisories for Kansas lakes due to blue-green algae.

THIS CUTE LITTLE GIRL is Miss Lucy Strutt. Although there was no carnival at this year’s Fair, this animal loving girl enjoyed seeing and getting a chance to pet some of the 4-H Livestock at Rooks County’s 4-H Livestock Fair last week. She is the daughter of Kyle Strutt and Sierra Brown of Woodston.

Stockton Fire Department receives donation from Stockton Rodders, Inc.

At the Stockton City Commission meeting held on Tuesday, August 4th, the commissioners met with Dean Kester with the Stockton Rodders, who was present for the session to present a check to the Stockton Fire Department in the amount of $3,238.44. Fire chief Jon Voss was there to accept the donation. Kester thanked the City for its continued support of the annual Swing Into Summer Cruise Night and Car Show. Next year, the car club will be making its annual donation to the Stockton EMS.

School Board approves supplemental contracts and accepts one resignation

At the end of the Stockton Unified School District No. 271 Board of Education meeting held on Monday, August 3rd, the members voted to approve the following supplemental contracts: Andrea Graham, Andrea Dix and Jenny Niblock for the Leadership Team, Clydene Widener for Food Service, Vicki Green as an aide, and Stephanie Cross as the Mental Health Intervention Team Liaison. They also accepted the resignation from aide Jordan Carpenter.
