The Stockton Lady Tigers Volleyball Team traveled to Natoma for the season-opening triangular with Chase and Natoma. The Lady Tigers, who return a talented group of seniors, took care of business, defeating Chase 25-8, 25-6, and Natoma, 25-10, 25-7.

The Stockton Junior High Volleyball and Football Teams will be on the road to WaKeeney this Thursday to take on the Golden Eagles. The Lady Tigers, who are coached by Danielle Muir and Laura Moffet, will face off against Trego at 4:00 p.m., while the Tiger boys, coached by Ray Niblock and David Ghumm, will kick off their game at 6:00 p.m.

Youth 17 and younger, who possess a valid deer permit, may hunt during this special deer season only (Saturday, September 7th through Sunday, September 15th) while under the immediate supervision of an adult 18 or older. Any person who possesses a valid deer permit and has a permit to hunt from a vehicle pursuant to K.A.R. 115-18-4 or a disability assistance permit issued pursuant to K.A.R. 115-18-15 may also hunt during this season. All resident and nonresident permits are valid, and equipment restrictions designated on permits apply. Hunter orange is required.

On Saturday, the Stockton High School Cross Country Team will open its season in Hays in a meet hosted by TMP. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. Coach Janet Kuhlmann has just two harriers on the roster, junior Cheyenne Hoeting, and sophomore Mia Odle.

The Stockton Tigers will be at home for their season opener, hosting the Logan/Palco Trojans on the gridiron. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

The annual dove-hunting season in Kansas begins this Sunday, September 1st and runs until Friday, November 29th. The daily bag limit of 15 applies to mourning and whitewinged doves, single species or in combination.

As hard as it is to believe, this week marks the opening of the Stockton High School fall sports seasons with the football and volleyball teams opening play on Friday. The Tiger football team will travel to Wa-Keeney for a Jamboree, while the Lady Tigers will be in Natoma on Friday for a triangular with Chase, and host Natoma.
