He was born on April 8, 1948, to Clarence Samuel and Geraldine Dorthea (Prosser) Kuhlmann in Athol, Kansas. He married Patricia Garrison on October 30, 1967, in Hill City. They were blessed with four children: Jack, Lori, Carol, and Christa.
