Nicodemus National Historic Site acquires historic First Baptist Church

Nicodemus National Historic Site is proud to announce the successful acquisition of the historic First Baptist Church in Nicodemus, Kansas. This acquisition was only possible because of collaboration with the First Nicodemus Missionary Baptist Church congregation, the generous donation and dedicated work of the Trust for Public Lands (TPL), and the assistance of the National Park Foundation (NPF).

City commissioners approve amended 2025 budget

The City of Stockton Commission met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. The RNR and 2025 Budget Hearings were also held to address and clarify questions regarding the proposed 2025 Budget published in the Stockton Sentinel on August 15th.

Downtown Parade & Pep Rally at 2:30 p.m.; and crowning at 6:30 p.m. It’s Homecoming Week! The Stockton Tigers will take on the Downs/Lakeside Knights in a gridiron matchup this Friday evening, September 13th, at Tiger Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

If you open the back gate at Sandy Folsom’s house, you will enter her sanctuary of beauty. Her backyard is filled with colorful flowers and patio tomato plants loaded with tomatoes ready to pick and eat right off the vine.

Commissioners approve 2023 audit report

The Rooks County Commissioners met with auditor John Mapes at the beginning of their regular weekly meeting on Tuesday, August 27th, to review the 2023 audit report. Mapes reviewed the information with the commissioners, who then approved the audit as presented. Mapes will now send the report to the State to be filed.

Grandson volunteers at 2024 Summer Olympics

Cole Scheller, the grandson of Sondra Folsom of Stockton, spent part of his summer in Paris, France as a volunteer for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Cole, who is finishing his last year at Kansas State University, saw information about Olympic volunteers last year on social media and applied for a spot.
