City holds regular meeting and budget work session

Body At the regular meeting of the Stockton City Commission on Tuesday, July 5, the commissioners started off the evening session by first approving the Consent Agenda for the evening, which included the Solomon Valley Manor gross payroll in the amount of $62,821.

Commissioners work on 2023 proposed county budget

Body Most of the July 5th regular weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commission was spent working on the 2023 proposed county budgets with auditor John Mapes. Before the work session the commissioners held the business side of the meeting with sheriff Gary Knight.

KDOT announces approved June bids

Body The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place June 15, 2022, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.

Fire call to Rooks County Landfill

Body The Stockton Fire Department was called out at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 30th to the Rooks County Landfill. After the County employees dug out the debris from the pit, the volunteers worked for approximately 45 minutes at the scene. No definite cause of the fire was determined.

Area wheat harvest update

Body As of Monday, July 11th, a few farmers are still out in the fields cutting, so that means the area wheat harvest is almost ready to have the books closed for this year.
