Traveling along K-18 highway between Bogue and Palco, you’ll spot the town of Damar, its two towering steeples of St. Joseph Catholic Church rising above the plains. A newly installed sign now greets travelers, inviting them to visit Damar and explore the historic church.

One of Damar's oldest surviving buildings was recently demolished. Constructed around 1905 by Jake Saindon—one of the area’s first settlers—the two-story structure initially served as his home. The upper floor was rented out to provide him with retirement income.
