Commissioners meet with department heads about the 2026 holidays

Body
At the regular meeting of the Rooks County Commission on Tuesday, January 6th, commissioners Jake Prockish, Tracy Rudman, and Tim Berland met with several county department heads to discuss the 2026 holidays. Register of deeds April Brown and appraiser Ronda Morgan spoke on behalf of the departments. The question asked of the commissioners was why they changed the 2026 holiday schedule from the previous year's list. They have checked with the Cities of Stockton and Plainville about their holiday schedules, which are similar to the County's. They noted that in the past, the County did not take off Columbus Day so that they could take off the day after Thanksgiving.
