Rooks County Airport plays host to Fly Kansas Air Tour

Body
It would seem that a sure sign of rain is to schedule Rooks County Airport as a stop on the annual Fly Kansas Air Tour. Repeating earlier Fly-ins, the rain put a little bit of a damper on the 2022 stop at Rooks County Regional Airport (RCP) on Friday. The day began nice enough, but by 10:30 a.m. the rain had started and continued until late in the afternoon. Despite the moisture, four planes were able to make it in, much to the delight of the nearly 100 Rooks County students in attendance.
THE WET WEATHER put a damper on the Fly Kansas Air Tour, which was held on Friday, October 7th at the Rooks County Regional Airport. The Plainville students still enjoyed looking at the planes that did touch down at the facilities before they took off for their last stop in Hays.

Fire Call last Tuesday

Body
The Stockton Fire Department answered a call on Tuesday, September 27th at 10:10 a.m. at Pfeifer Recycling in Stockton. A hybrid car had caught on fire. The volunteers first kept the fire from spreading around the car since hybrid vehicles have lithium ion batteries that burn very hot and very quickly, before it was extinguished. The firemen were on the scene for approximately one hour. Fire chief Ray Niblock stated that the department will be taking courses in the near future to learn how to address the fire hazards of electric and hybrid vehicles as more is learned about the best ways to combat this type of fire.
