The Labor Day weekend tradition continues in Logan this Sunday, September 6, as the Hansen Museum welcomes visitors to the 48th Annual Hansen Museum Labor Day Celebration at the Logan Golf Course.

While the holiday itself falls on Monday, longtime attendees know that Logan gets the celebration started a day early. Sunday’s festivities will offer something for nearly everyone, from classic cars and friendly competition to children’s activities, food, live music and a fireworks finale.

One of the day’s biggest attractions, the Dane G. Bales Jr. Memorial Car Show, will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no entry fee, and this year’s featured vehicle is a 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria owned by Linda Artz. Visitors will have the opportunity to stroll through the displays, visit with vehicle owners and see which entries take home awards.

Competition gets underway at 11:00 a.m. with the Sand Volleyball Tournament. Later in the afternoon, both the Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull and Logan Fire Department Cornhole Tournament will begin at 2:00 p.m., with registration opening at 1:00 p.m. There will be plenty to keep the younger crowd entertained as well. Free face painting and temporary tattoos will be offered by Color Me Crazy! Face Painting, and youngsters can also enjoy inflatables and games throughout the day.

With a full day of activities planned, visitors won’t have to leave the golf course when hunger strikes. The Junior Class will serve both lunch and supper from its booth, while Triple C Lemonade, Buck’s Snow Shack and The Corn Kettle will provide additional refreshments and treats.

As the evening approaches, attention will turn to the stage. The Innocence, a five-member band from Kearney, Nebraska, will begin performing at 5:30 p.m. The group offers music spanning a variety of genres and eras, giving audience members plenty of opportunities to sing along, dance or simply sit back and enjoy the show. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The celebration will continue after the music ends, with one of the most anticipated traditions of the day. At dusk, Rainbow Fireworks of Inman will light up the Logan sky with a fireworks display to bring the 48th annual celebration to a close.

Thanks to the generosity of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, admission and activities throughout the celebration are free. Visitors will only need money if they plan to purchase food or treats.

For nearly five decades, the Hansen Museum Labor Day Celebration has provided an opportunity for families, friends and neighbors to gather for a day of entertainment and community fellowship. This Sunday’s celebration promises to carry on that tradition with cars to admire, contests to enter, activities for the kids, music to enjoy and fireworks to end the evening.

And don’t forget—although it’s called the Labor Day Celebration, Sunday is the day to be in Logan.
