From the shining cloud, the Father’s voice is heard: “This is my beloved Son, hear Him.” On the second Sunday of Lent, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration, when Jesus first predicts His death and teaches about the cost of discipleship. His Transfiguration is a promise of His glory, His Resurrection.

Well, I finally made it home from Aunt Kay’s, and let me tell you, it was quite an adventure! Navigating through sleet a few times kept me on my toes. I felt like I was on a winter rollercoaster! But, praise God, He protected me every step of the way. No accidents, no icy slips or slides. Just me, overreacting like I always do. Now I’m just so grateful to be safe and warm with the Farmer. It’s such a relief to finally kick off my shoes and relax. And you know what? I’m not worrying about laundry or dishes until tomorrow. Today, I’m just happy to be here, cozy and loved. Plus, the Farmer made the bed, which is a true act of kindness and very surprising. That’s real love right there. Taking care of the little things so I don’t have to! All in all, I’d say it’s good to be home, safe and sound, and ready to enjoy some well-deserved rest. Thank God for His protection, and thank the Farmer for making the bed. Life is good!

Goodbye February! We loved our time together at the library. Six avid readers quietly enjoyed over two hours together at February’s Silent Book Club.

SGS hosted their Spring Family Engagement Night on Thursday, February 19th, and it was an incredible evening! Despite the snowy weather, many families arrived eager to create, explore, and learn together. Art served as a wonderful way to engage attendees, sparking creativity and curiosity.

Board Members present at the January 27th RCH Board of Directors meeting were Shelbe Darnell, DC (Vice Chair); Anna Muir (Secretary); Dan Sanchez, MD; and Jay Casey. Board member Brad Plumer was absent from the meeting.

A fun night of college basketball turned unforgettable for one Stockton eighth grader. As part of its 75th Anniversary celebration, Nex-Tech sponsored the Fort Hays State University men’s and women’s basketball games on Thursday, February 26, at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.

Rooks County Election Officer Laura Montgomery: “As of this Monday at 12 noon, we’ve had 12 in-person voters and 27 who requested mail ballots.” Overheard: “Man, was I wound up the other day. My Apple Watch told me twice I was having a medical emergency.”.

Nearly 9,600 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the fall 2025 semester, including five from Rooks County. The honor roll includes undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the schools of Architecture & Design, Business, Education & Human Sciences, Engineering, Health Professions, Journalism & Mass Communications, Music, Nursing, Pharmacy, Professional Studies and Social Welfare.

The menus for the Senior Centers in Rooks County for the week beginning Monday, March 2, are as follows: Monday— Tater tot casserole, mixed vegetables, bread, strawberries and bananas. Tuesday—Oven- baked chicken, scal-loped potatoes, broccoli, bread, cinnamon apples.
