“You are the salt of the earth…the light of the world…a city set on a mountain.” In Sunday’s Gospel reading from Matthew 5:13-16, we read these words of Jesus to His disciples. These three phrases are images of evangelization.

In our study of Acts this week, we find three questions that emerge: Who do people say you are? What are you willing to do? Whose will are you following? Leading up to Acts 21, we have seen Paul preaching the Word to people throughout Asia, and despite encountering resistance and physical threats, he continued to convert Gentiles and Jews to Christianity, fulfilling his mission. His strong character was a good example to the elders and other that would also suffer for Christ.

'You Must Believe, Part Two' was the message title taken from John 3:22-36. These verses are mostly a call to believe in Jesus.

Average gasoline prices in Kansas have risen 1.1 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.43/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 1,329 stations in Kansas. Prices in Kansas are 4.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 38.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased by 2.9 cents from a week ago and stands at $3.614 per gallon.

Plainville Paradise Masonic Lodge No. 290 has enjoyed an exciting couple of weeks. Last Monday, January 26th, members gathered to recognize Ms. Gabby Poels, this year’s winner of the local Masonic Essay Contest. Gabby not only earned first place at the lodge level, but she also advanced to the Kansas Masonic Grand Lodge competition, where she received additional honors and scholarship support. In total, she was awarded $750.00, which she plans to use toward her future studies at Fort Hays State University.
