Rooks County Courthouse celebrates 100 years

The Rooks County Courthouse’s Centennial Celebration is this Thursday, April 20th. The program will be held at 1:00 p.m. on the east Courthouse lawn. Refreshments will be served following the program. Please feel free to tour our beautiful Courthouse and enjoy the many displays until 4:00 p.m.
The annual Spring Shootout Demo Derby is this Saturday

It’s time for the Spring Shootout Demo Derby this Saturday, April 22nd, at the Rooks County Fairgrounds! The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the pit gates opening at 4:30 p.m. (The inspection line closes at 6:00 p.m.) Spectator admission is $15.00, with concessions available throughout the evening.

The menus for the week beginning Monday, April 17, are as follows: Monday—Sepherd’s pie, creamed peas, bread, hot cinnamon applesauce. Tuesday—Chili, cinnamon roll, crackers, strawberries and bananas. Wednesday— Pork roast with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, seasoned carrots, bread, mandarin oranges. Thursday— Turkey ala king, California blend vegetables, hot cinnamon pears, biscuit, birthday cake. Friday— Meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, peas and carrots, bread, peaches.
