Emily Blunt portrays Dr. Lily Houghton, a progressive British researcher in search of “The Tree of Life,” a centuries sought-after conifer that bears all-curing blooms during a particular moon. She hires Captain Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson), an Amazon scallywag who knows the dangers of the river better than anyone and has himself searched many times for the mystical tree. As the legend and lore of the tree continues to offer them clues, there’s more to Frank’s past than anyone knows and this time he’ll get closer than ever to locating the tree.
The menus for the week beginning Monday, August 16, are as follows: Monday—Pork cutlet, scalloped potatoes, green beans, bread, strawberries. Tuesday—Turkey tetrazzini, California blend vegetables, bread, hot cinnamon apples. Wednesday—Taco burger with lettuce, tomato and cheese, mexicali corn, bun, tropical fruit. Thursday—Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, bread, pineapple upside-down cake. Friday—Baked fish, macaroni and cheese, seasoned carrots, bread, mandarin oranges.
The Hansen Museum 5K Run & 2MI Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, August 21st in Logan. All proceeds will benefit Phillips County Hospice.

The Rooks County Health Department will be sponsoring blood draw clinics on Monday, August 9th at the Plainville Senior Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and on Tuesday, August 10th at the Rooks County Health Department from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Make plans now to participate in the 4-H Silent Food Auction to be held during the Rooks County Free Fair. The ten items for auction will be on display in Harding Hall and ready for bids by Monday evening, August 9th.
Bids will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13th. Whoever has the high bid will be the official buyer of the item. The 4-Her will then prepare a new item and give it to the buyer. All proceeds will go to the 4-H members, so please support this organization.
