The menus for the week beginning Monday, May 30, are as follows: Monday—Closed for Memorial Day. Tuesday—Chicken strips, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, bread, rosy pears. Wednesday— Sheperd’s pie, corn, bread, peaches. Thursday—Taco burger with lettuce, tomato and cheese, rice, bun, mixed fruit.

Due to the recent cancer diagnosis of Debbie (Sander) Wallace, an account to help with travel and medical expenses has been set up at Solutions North Bank in Stockton..

The Monroe-Taylor-Barnes V.F.W. Post 8873 in Stockton encourages all veterans (members and non-members) and Auxiliary members to fall out on Memorial Day, May 30th. Veterans are to meet at the Post Home at 8:30 a.m. for services.

The Sentinel will require early copy for next week’s issue because of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 30th. The Sentinel office will be closed but we will print as usual on Wednesday morning so there will NOT be an early issue for next week.

The family of Alva and Jule Winters is requesting a card shower to help them celebrate their respective birthdays. Alva will turn 96 on May 28, while Jule will be 90 on May 30. Cards will reach Alva at 2811 US Hwy 24, Hill City, KS 67642, and Jule at 208 West Prout, Hill City, KS 67642. 2t

School is out so another year of the Summer Food Service Program begins next Monday, May 23rd. The Summer Food Service Program provides lunch and next day’s breakfast to all children ages 1 to 18 years of age.

Live music, a parade, games, food, shopping, and much more! The peonies are starting to bloom so that can only mean one thing….Stockton’s Peony Festival is here! The event will take place this Saturday, May 21st with lots to do, lots to eat and lots to see. The day kicks off at 7:00 a.m.

It’s city-wide garage sale time! Stockton is once again participating in the annual Highway 24 Garage Sale. The three-day event runs from Friday through Sunday, June 3rd, 4th and 5th.
