On July 29, the Creightons ventured to Phillipsburg to participate in their Fair Dog Show. Jefferson, showing Lucy, did very well, receiving a Purple score with a Red ribbon in Showmanship, a Purple score with a Red ribbon in Obedience, and a Purple score with a Red ribbon in Agility.

The Stockton Lady Tiger JV girls were in Phillipsburg on August 26 for a tournament. The Lady Tigers ended up going 1-2 on the day, falling to the host Lady Panthers 14-25, 17-25, losing to Ellis 11-25, 16-25, and picking up a win over Russell, 25-17, 12-25, 15-12..

SJH Tigers host Trego in first action at home

Stockton hosted the Trego Golden Eagles in junior high volleyball and football action last Thursday, with the C-Team girls the only ones picking up a win. The Lady Tigers gave their opponents good games, but the A Team fell 17-25, 21-25, and the B Team lost 14-25, 16-25.

Hoeting and Odle medal at TMP cross country meet

Sophomore Cheyenne Hoeting and freshman Mia Odle both brought home medals in their first meet of the season which was held last Saturday morning in Hays, hosted by TMP. Hoeting finished seventh in the varsity race with a time of 23:27.6, while Odle, with a time of 27:49.4, placed third in the junior varsity race, to earn their medals.

Tiger Cross Country Team opens this Friday at TMP

The 2023 cross country season for the Stockton harriers begins this Friday when they travel to Hays for the TMP meet, which is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Second year coach Janet Kuhlmann has six runners (five high school and one junior high) on the roster.

Dove hunting begins this Friday, Sept. 1

The annual dove-hunting season in Kansas begins this Friday, September 1st and runs until November 29th.The daily bag limit of 15 applies to mourning and whitewinged doves, single species or in combination. There is no limit on Eurasian collared or ringed turtle doves, but any taken in addition to the mourning and white-winged dove daily bag must have a fully-feathered wing attached while being transported. The possession limit is 45 (mourning and white-winged doves.)

Geographic information system staff at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks are proud to offer hunters a new tool this year designed to make locating fields managed specifically for dove easier than ever. Each year, KDWP’s public land managers work diligently to provide quality wildlife habitat for public enjoyment – to include crops of sunflowers, milo and wheat stubble – that are sure to attract good numbers of wildlife, including dove.

Youth and Disability Deer Season open

Youth 17 and younger, who possess a valid deer permit, may hunt during this special deer season (September 3rd through September 11th) only while under the immediate supervision of an adult 18 or older. Any person who possesses a valid deer permit and has a permit to hunt from a vehicle pursuant to KAR 115-18-4 or a disability assistance permit issued pursuant to KAR 115-1815 may also hunt during this season. All resident and nonresident permits are valid, and equipment restrictions designated on permits apply. Hunter orange is required.
