Stockton falls to Rock Hills in NPL Tournament action

The ninth-seeded Stockton Tigers boys basketball team met fifth-seeded Rock Hills last Tuesday in their third game of the 2026 Northern Plains League Basketball Tournament in Lincoln. Stockton entered the contest after opening tournament play with a 56-41 win over Natoma before dropping a 64-46 decision to topseeded Thunder Ridge.

The Stockton Junior High basketball teams endured a challenging night on the road last Thursday, as they came up short in all contests against Osborne. On the girls side, the A Team turned in a strong effort but fell in a close 26-22 decision.

The Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest was held on Sunday, January 25th, at the Plainville Cardinal Gym, with the Knights overseeing the competition. After receiving three warm-up shots, each contestant had 15 tries to make as many free throws as possible.

Atkisson opened jr. high wrestling season last week

Stockton seventh grader Eli Atkisson is the lone wrestler on this year’s boys junior high wrestling team. Atkisson, who wrestles in the 90-lb. weight class, opened his season at Plainville last Thursday, going 0-2. He will be competing at Smith Center this Thursday with action beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Tigers take third at Nickerson Invite

The Stockton Tiger girls wrestling team turned in a strong performance last Friday at the Nickerson Girls Varsity Invitational, finishing third overall in the 10-team field with 77.5 points. Lindsborg-Smoky Valley won the team title with 116.5 points, followed by Wichita-Bishop Carroll with 97.

The Plainville Cardinal boys wrestling team competed at the Beloit Invitational last Friday and Saturday, with several wrestlers earning topeight finishes in the competitive 16-team field. The Cardinals placed 11th with 76.5 points, with Abilene winning the Invitational with 175.5 points.

Stockton defeats Trego in girls wrestling dual, 28-24

Stockton hosted WaKeeney- Trego Community/ Quinter last Thursday in a girls high school wrestling dual, and picked up a 28-24 win in an event which wasn’t scheduled until the last minute. Seniors Carolina Northup an Saj Snyder won both of their matches, with Northup earning an 11-3 major decision of Acelyn Wynn, and Snyder getting a fall over Jillian Samson.
