1981 State Champion Stockton Tigers recognized last Friday

Last Friday night, the 1981 2A State Champion Stockton Tigers basketball team was recognized at halftime of the Stockton Tigers vs. Pike Valley basketball game. It has been 45 years since the Tigers earned the championship trophy, and they were represented by a group of former players who enjoyed, not only seeing and reminiscing with each other, but also visiting with those fans who were in attendance. The 1981 Stockton Tigers are the only state basketball championship Stockton has won.
Members of the 1981 Class 2A State Basketball Champions were in Stockton last Friday, when they were recognized for their accomplishment on the court 45 years ago. From left are: Gary Knight, David Reed, Tim Talbert, Doug Dix, Matt Miller, head coach Jim Brickell, Mike Miller, assistant coach Robert Reed, and Rick Bice. The group, along with family and friends, gathered at 1872 Italian Eatery that evening, where they enjoyed eating and reminiscing for several hours.

PTL Tournament is underway in Tescott

The Stockton Junior High Boys Basketball Team has been playing some of their best basketball of the season recently, and that was evident when they picked up a 42-28 victory over Tescott last Saturday in the opening round of the Pike Trail League Basketball Tournament. With the win, the Tigers played Lucas- Sylvan this Monday afternoon, but they were defeated 50-33, bringing an end to their season.

The Stockton Tigers made the trip to Lincoln last Saturday to wrap up their Northern Plains League Basketball Tournament run in the long-delayed seventh- place game against Tescott. Stockton came out with energy and confidence, jumping out to a 19–16 lead after the first quarter.

Three Plainville seniors named to 2025–26 MCL All-Academic Team

The 2025–26 Mid-Continent League All-Academic Team was announced during this year’s MCL Basketball Tournament. Thirty-one students from eight member schools were selected for the honor, including three seniors from Plainville High School: Avery Grebowiec, Tucker Rudman and Sterling Dohe.

Plainville girls defeated by Hoisington Lady Cards

The Plainville Lady Cardinals hosted Hoisington on Monday, January 26, but ran into a strong Lady Cardinal squad and fell by a final score of 76-48. Hoisington jumped out to an early lead, taking advantage of a fast start to go up 25-14 by the end of the first quarter.
