The Plainville Lady Cardinals battled through a tight first half and pulled away down the stretch to earn a 44-35 win over Ellis on Monday, February 9. The two teams came out evenly matched, finishing the first quarter knotted at 12 apiece.

The Plainville Junior High wrestling teams turned in an impressive performance Thursday, February 12, at the Russell Junior High Wrestling Scramble, bringing home a collection of first-place finishes and several runner- up and third-place medals against strong area competition.

The road to Hays ran through WaKeeney this year— and this past Friday and Saturday, four Stockton Lady Tigers punched their tickets. Competing at the 3-1A Regional Wrestling Tournament in WaKeeney, Stockton had four wres-tlers finish in the top eight to qualify for the KSHSAA 3-1A State Wrestling Championships, set for February 27 and 28 at Fort Hays State University in Hays.

The Plainville Junior High wrestling teams had another good showing at the Junior Panther Classic held last Friday in Phil-lipsburg, bringing home multiple medals and several individual championships against strong competition.

The Plainville Lady Cardinals turned in a memorable performance at the KSHSAA Girls 3-2-1A West Regional held February 13 and 14 in WaKeeney, placing fourth as a team with 106 points. Russell High School claimed the regional title, scoring 211 points, followed by Norton with 172 opints, and Oakley with 142.5 points.

Stockton Junior High wrestler Eli Atkisson closed out his 2025-26 season Saturday at the Junior Panther Classic in Phillipsburg, competing as the Tigers’ lone representative in the tournament. Wrestling at 90 pounds, Atkisson entered the day with a 4-6 record and battled through a competitive bracket to score 3.0 team points for Stockton.
