The Plainville Junior High wrestling teams turned in an impressive day on the mats February 5 at Norton, as both the girls and boys squads combined for multiple individual championships and numerous medal- winning performances across several weight classes.

Stocktoin Junior High wrestler Eli Atkisson turned in a strong performance last Thursday at the Hoxie JH Scramble, finishing the day with two victories on the mat. Atkisson opened the tournament against Sutherland of Oberlin, where he lost by technical fall, 18–3.

The Stockton Tigers hosted the Lincoln Leopards in boys basketball action Tuesday of last week, staying within striking distance through the opening half before Lincoln pulled away for a 73–45 victory.

The Stockton High School girls wrestling team turned in a solid showing at the Panther Classic, finishing eighth in the 17-team field with 67.5 points. Norton captured the team title with 125 points, followed closely by Minneapolis with 120 and St.

The Plainville High School girls wrestling team competed at the Panther Classic held Friday in Phillipsburg, with Lillian Garcia capturing an individual championship and several Lady Cardinals gaining valuable experience against a competitive field.

Fourteen was the magic number at the District Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest held in Plainville on Sunday, February 1st. Six winners shot 14 free throws out of 25 each to win in their age groups for the privilege of representing St. Thomas Church in Stockton and Sacred Heart Church in Plainville at the Regional competition in Quinter this Sunday, February 15th. And to make it even more exciting, one competition even went to three tie-breakers before a winner finally emerged!
