The Stockton Lady Tigers had a busy week of volleyball, traveling to Russell last Tuesday, and competing at Osborne on Saturday, Stockton’s varsity team split at the triangular held in Russell, falling to Russell 14-25, 18-25, but defeating Oakley 25-14, 25-15. In JV action at Russell the results were the same with Stockton losing to the Lady Broncos 20-25, 19-25, but picking up a win over Oakley 25-17, 17-25, 15-8.

These junior varsity volleyball results from the Phillipsburg Triangular on September 20 with Hill City and the host Lady Panthers were not available at press time last week: vs. Hill City (won)—25-19, 16-25, 15-12; vs. Phillipsburg (lost)—15-25, 17-25.

Stockton Tigers fall to Decatur Community

The Stockton Tigers were defeated by the Decatur Community Red Devils last Friday in Oberlin by the score of 50-0 to fall to 0-4 on the season. The game was also the beginning of District play for the Tigers.

Stockton hosted the Lucas/Sylvan Cougars last Thursday in junior high volleyball and football action. The A-Team Lady Tigers and Lucas/Sylvan were very evenly matched, but in the end, Stockton lost in two sets, 22-25, 22-25.

Another first-place XC finish for Johnny Hamel

Tiger sophomore Johnny Hamel earned another first-place finish, this one at the Ness City Invitational held last Thursday at the Ness City Country Club. Nineteen teams competed in the Invitational, with the varsity men’s race featuring 40 runners.

SHS Tigers drop Homecoming game to Wheatland-Grinnell

Last Friday’s Homecoming game between the Stockton Tigers and Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks was won by the visitors in two quarters of action, 63-8. Wheatland-Grinnell scored on the opening drive of the game, but Tiger senior Rylan Basart returned the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown.

SHS Lady Tigers take on Hoxie and Smith Center in triangular

The Stockton Lady Tigers fell to 2-9 on the season after losses to both Hoxie and Smith Center last Tuesday night in Stockton. The Lady Tigers, who are playing several underclassmen, showed they could hang with both teams at times, but in the end they were downed by Hoxie 13-25, 17-25, and were defeated by Smith Center 15-25, 9-25.
