Tigers fall to Trego in final home game

The Stockton Tigers hosted the Trego Golden Eagles last Friday night at Tiger Stadium in their final home game of the season. The visitors entered the game with a 6-1 record, and it was evident why, as they went on to defeat Stockton 70–0. The game was a Mid-Continent League matchup, as well as a district game.

Hamel places seventh at Lakeside Invitational

Stockton sophomore Johnny Hamel placed seventh out of 82 varsity runners at the Lakeside Invitational cross country meet held last Thursday in Downs. Hamel, who ran the course 30 seconds faster than last year, finished with a time of 17:55. Coach Chris Graham said, “Johnny ran his best race of the year; started strong, then had a tremendous finish to catch another runner in the last 300 meters or so.”

SHS Tigers defeated by Hoxie Indians

Despite the adversity the Stockton Tigers have been dealt this season, the players and coaches continue to seek improvement each time they take the field. Last Friday in Hoxie was no exception, however, the Tigers were defeated once again, with the Indians winning 80-0.

SHS Tigers defeated on gridiron by Rawlins Co.

The Stockton Tigers traveled to Atwood on Friday, October 8, for a district game against the Rawlins County Buffaloes. Rawlins County scored 48 unanswered points in the first quarter and added three more in the second to capture a 51-0 win over the Tigers. Stockton’s record falls to 0-6 on the season, while the Buffaloes improved to 3-3.

Johnny Hamel is the MCL XC Champion

Johnny Hamel can add 2021 Mid-Continent League Cross Country Champion to his accolades for this season after running away from the pack to finish in first place at the meet held last Thursday at the Phillipsburg Golf Course. The Tiger sophomore crossed the finish line 25 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Hoxie. Hamel’s time of 18:23 for the 5K was a 44-second improvement over last year’s race at Phillipsburg.
JOHNNY HAMEL was the gold medal winner in both the MCL/ Phillipsburg Invitational races last Thursday in Phillipsburg.

SJH Lady Tigers place third in the MCEL Volleyball Tournament

THE STOCKTON JUNIOR HIGH LADY TIGERS earned a third-place finish in the 2021 Mid-Continent Elementary League Volleyball Tournament after falling to TMP and Norton in the finals on Monday in Stockton. The top three seeds in the tourney made it through pool play last Thursday at their respective locations, and the championship triangular was held at the home of the top-seeded Lady Tigers on Monday. Stockton, who went 2-1, advanced to the finals after winning the three-way tie in pool play. The Lady Tigers defeated Hill City and Plainville last Thursday, but fell to the Trego Golden Eagles. However, it was the Stockton girls winning the tie-breaker to advance to the championship on Monday. The Lady Tigers received third-place medals for their efforts.
