The Plainville Invitational golf tournament was held last Monday evening at Rooks County Golf Course. Six teams competed in the 18-hole event with Hill City winning the Best 4 title with a score of 334. Phillipsburg was second with 375 points, and Osborne was third with 402 points. The final three were Russell (414), Plainville (419), and Stockton (531).

Although improvement is being made, the RoCo Softball Team is still looking for its first win of the season. The girls kicked off their 2022 schedule traveling to Russell to take on Russell/Victoria. RoCo Softball was defeated 0-15 and 8-21 in the doubleheader. On March 31 they were on the road to Ellis, where they fell 1-16 and 0-23.

Last Thursday the RoCo Softball Team was on the road to take on Sylvan-Lucas/Lincoln, losing both games of the doubleheader by scores of 0-10. Sylvan-Lucas’ pitcher, Sophie Pancost, had RoCo’s number as the Cardinals could only manage one hit in each of the games. The hits came from Ashlyn Hahn (first game), and Jaylyn Sager.

Stockton hosted the 2022 Stockton Middle School Invitational last Tuesday at Tiger Stadium, with the 7th-grade boys, who scored 123 points, winning their division of the meet. Stockton outlasted Osborne Junior High who placed second with 110 points.

The Stockton Junior High Tigers traveled to Smith Center on Thursday, April 7, for their first track meet of the season. It was a tough meet with Beloit, Concordia, Ellsworth, Minneapolis, Pike Valley, Stockton, TMP and the host Redmen participating.

With temperatures near 90 and winds gusting in the upper 30s, it certainly wasn’t the best day for a track meet, but the Stockton Tigers didn’t let it bother them as they collected several gold medals on the day.
