The Stockton Wrestling Club had six wrestlers qualify for State competition, March 12 and 13, in Topeka at the 2022 USAWKS Folkstyle Wrestling Championships. The club came home with a State Champion in Carolina Northup, wrestling at 14 & Under Girls 92-lbs.

Stockton High School’s six-foot senior Olivia Dix was recently named to the 2022 Mid-Continent League Second Team in basketball. The teams are voted on by the league coaches. Dix, who ended her high school career scoring over 1,000 points, was the only Lady Tiger recognized.

Four seniors from Logan/Palco were recently named to the 2022 Western Kansas Liberty League All-League Basketball Team. On the girls’ side, Rylee Delimont was a 2nd Team selection, and for the boys, Dylan Van Laeys was named to the 1st Team, while Kyle Hogan and Ty Kats were 2nd Team selections. The WKLL is comprised of 13 teams from Western Kansas.

The Mid-Continent League sent three teams to the KSHSAA Basketball State Championships last week, the Trego Golden Eagle boys (2A), the TMP boys (3A) and the Smith Center girls (2A). Trego was defeated in the first round, but the TMP boys ended up placing fourth, and the Smith Center Lady Red captured third place. Also placing from the area were the Northern Valley Huskies who finished third in 1A Div. II boys.

ON SATURDAY, MARCH 5, Camden Iwanski (middle) and Cason Iwanski (right) brought home medals from the Golden Eagle Powerlifting Meet which was held in WaKeeney. In the 140-lb. division, Cason placed first in Squat with a lift of 275 lbs. Camden, who competed at 155 lbs., was a third-place finisher in Bench Press with a lift of 210 lbs.
