As her way of helping commemorate and celebrate Stockton’s 150th birthday celebration later this month, Jean Lindsey has worked tirelessly since June putting together collages of our town’s forefathers, churches, homes, schools etc. for display in the businesses.

The Farmers Union Elevator has taken in 353,000 bushels of milo; 149,000 bushels of corn and 26,000 bushels of soybeans as of Monday, November 7th. The Woodston Coop’s numbers are 239,000 bushels of milo; 158,000 bushels of corn; and 32,000 bushels of soybeans.

Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas hosted its annual awards luncheon in Hays on October 18th. Awards were given throughout the afternoon to staff, persons served, and community members. The first awards were given to employees of DSNWK for their years of service.

Recently, Stockton High School senior Addie Struckhoff was awarded a $500.00 SAFE (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) Scholarship for her zoom presentation in the SAFE Speaks Competition. SAFE is a free, student- led program for high school students focusing on peer-to-peer promotion of traffic safety.

The season openers for pheasant and quail are upon us and good prospects are in the offing as hunters enter the field. An article detailing those prospects was published in a recent article of the Sentinel.

In this year’s General Election there are two candidates running for the Republican ticket for the Rooks County Commissioner District #1 seat. They are incumbent Greg Balthazor (Independent) and Kayla Hilbrink (Republican).

The Cold Weather Rule, designed to help Kansans who are behind on their utility payments avoid disconnection during the winter months, began Tuesday, November 1 and remain in effect through March 31.
