Mott's Steak & Chop Bar & Restaurant (105 South Cedar in Stockton, Kansas) was auctioned off Saturday, December 16th at 10:00 a.m. by Hamit Land & Auction, Inc. The real estate with contents was sold as one unit and was purchased by Kenneth Walker of Cassoday, Kansas. Kenneth (Ken) is the son of Jim Walker of Stockton.

The plan is to keep the facility as a bar and restaurant.

Following an executive session during the regular weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commissioners held Tuesday, December 19, Adam Bryant of Stockton was offered the position of Rooks County Emergency Management Director.

He will begin his duties sometime after the first of the year.

Governor Kelly announces new license plate design after nearly 270K votes cast

Governor Laura Kelly announced this Monday the new Kansas standard- issue license plate design, which was chosen by a majority of the public after a week-long voting process that elicited nearly 270,000 votes from Kansans in all 105 counties. Kansans chose the design featuring the Kansas Statehouse dome within a cutout of the state and a yellow, white, and blue gradient background.
THISWINNING LICENSE PLATE received 53% of the votes or just over 140,000.

This termination decision was made after the commissioners held three executive sessions to discuss non-elected personnel.

At the Rooks County Commission meeting on Tuesday, December 12th, Rooks County Commissioners Jake Prockish, Tim Berland, and John Ruder voted to terminate county appraiser Heather Poore.

This termination decision was made after the commissioners held three executive sessions to discuss non-elected personnel.

The first two sessions included the three commissioners and clerk Laura Montgomery. The first session was 45 minutes long, with the second being twenty minutes.

The first order of business for the Rooks County Commissioners on Tuesday, December 5th, was to review the applications for the emergency management position in executive session with current director Butch Post. There was no further discussion when they returned to the open meeting. They will set up interviews for the applicants during their next session.
