The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place Aug. 17, 2022, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.

Rooks County Health Center (RCH) welcomes a new Physician Assistant (PA) to the service provider roster. Cheyenne Armbruster- Wahrman has just recently passed her board certifications and will begin providing care at RCH on September 12.

Grain growers in central Kansas who plan to campaign for a seat on one of the state’s five grain commodity commissions— corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, wheat or sunflowers— should be gathering petition signatures now to meet the November 30, 2022, filing deadline.

At the regular weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commission held on Tuesday, August 30th, commissioners Tim Berland, Greg Balthazor and John Ruder met with health nurse Lori Eichman. Eichman reported that the outside repair work on the building is completed.

A whole lot of shakin’ went on in north central and northwest Kansas during the month of August. Four minor earthquakes were reported near the Ellis/Russell County line on Friday evening, August 26th through Saturday morning, August 27th.
