Hometown heroes honored at program

Stockton USD 271 presented “A Salute to our Veterans” on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th. The morning began with a reception of coffee, cookies and doughnuts hosted by the KAY organization before the program at 9:00 a.m.

A second major art project in Stockton has just been completed with the “Greetings From... Stockton” postcard mural getting its final touches last Tuesday. RoCo Arts Council is so pleased to present this amazing mural to the community which symbolically represents so much of our life here.

Cole pleads guilty in fatal DUI accident

Zebulon Thomas Cole, 22, of Stockton, plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol when he struck a vehicle that claimed the life of 16-year-old Plainville girl. On April 29, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Pheasant season opens this Saturday

It is a Kansas tradition to open pheasant and quail season on the second Saturday in November. If you are a bird hunter, you have been waiting for this day for a long time! The Kansas pheasant and quail seasons are November 12th, 2022 to January 31st, 2023.

Commissioners hold short meeting

The Rooks County Commission met on Monday, October 31st instead of its regular Tuesday weekly meeting to conduct business and review and sign end-ofthe- month vouchers and payroll. Present for the meeting were commissioners Tim Berland and John Ruder.

Collages of Stockton’s history on display in businesses

As her way of helping commemorate and celebrate Stockton’s 150th birthday celebration later this month, Jean Lindsey has worked tirelessly since June putting together collages of our town’s forefathers, churches, homes, schools etc. for display in the businesses.
THE SENTINEL has the collage of the businesses and points of interest in Stockton that Jean Lindsey put together to celebrate the town’s 150th birthday. There are 14 collages on display throughout the businesses in Stockton for people to enjoy that focus on the town’s forefathers, churches, events, etc. through the years.
