The Heartland Community Foundation’s Twice as Nice is back—the annual Match Month campaign when donations to the foundation are matched by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. All donations must be postmarked by Feb. 28 in order to be eligible for matching.

Living is easy in Rooks County with nearly all categories of court cases dropping from the year before. A reduction in Criminal cases, to 54, may be the best news as there were 90 in 2021.

Rooks County Fair Board Secretary Kelly Muir was at the county commission meeting held on Tuesday, January 24th, to present the commissioners with the estimates for replacing the HVAC unit at the 4-H building. The commissioners will review the bids and decide at the next meeting.

After spelling “embrace” correctly, fifth-grade student Golden Potter became the 2023 Stockton Grade School Spelling Bee Champion. Potter entered the competition as the fifth-grade alternate, making it an even bigger win.

The Rooks County Historical Society hosted a Kansas Day Celebration at the Nova Theatre on Sunday, January 29th.

Sept. 1— 2022 Rooks County valuations were up over $11 million, mainly due to oil increases.

At the start of the January 17th meeting of the Rooks County Commission, Chuck Comeau with the Senior Services Board, was present to answer questions after forwarding all the Redbud Village information and feasibility study to the commissioners as requested at their last meeting.
