Chad Christopher Conway
1970 - 2026
Chad Christopher Conway, 56, of Plainville, passed away on October 19, 2026, at HaysMed Center in Hays.
He was born on February 4, 1970, in Plainville, Kansas, to Greg Conway and Cindy (Hammonds) Thompson.
Chad grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1988. He worked as the feedlot ranch manager for Conway Farms, where he devoted his time and hard work to the family farming operation. His dedication to agriculture and strong work ethic showed in everything he did.
Chad enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. As an avid collector of antiques, coins, furniture, toys, and just about anything that caught his eye, he had a knack for finding value and potential in things others may overlook. With the creativity of an artist and the mind of an engineer, Chad could turn a pile of odds and ends into something useful, often with a little ingenuity and a lot of determination. Whether he was dreaming up his next invention or tackling a project on the farm, Chad was happiest when he worked with his hands and found a way to make things work.
He was always willing to lend a hand to friends and family, whether tackling a project, operating farm equipment, or simply being there when someone needed him. His willingness to help others and his love for the outdoors reflected his hardworking nature and caring spirit.
Chad is survived by his father, Greg Conway of Plainville; daughters, Joelle Conway-Jamvold (Noah Jamvold) of Meriden, and Darla Monroe of Salina; siblings, Melissa (Dave) Hallin of Norwalk, Iowa, Angela Conway-Grothaus of Hebron, Kentucky, and Caleb (Tasha) Conway of Topeka; and five grandchildren, Davyn Willeford, Cameron Monroe, Hayden Schneider, Carter Monroe, and Lilith Jamvold. Chad also leaves behind his beloved nieces, Ellie, Victoria, and Julia, and nephew, Derek, each of whom held a special place in his heart, along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cindy Thompson, and niece, Bella Conway.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
