The Stockton Tigers were at home for their season opener last Friday, taking on the Thunder Ridge Longhorns in 8-man football action at Tiger Stadium. The talented Thunder Ridge team picked up a 70-12 victory over Stockton, dropping the Tigers to 0-1 on the young season.

The Stockton Lady Tiger JV Volleyball Team earned a second-place finish at their season-opening JV Volleyball Tournament held in Phillipsburg last Saturday. The Lady Tigers played in Pool B along with Ellis TMP and Russell.

Cole Reif recently interviewed Stockton High School graduate Bill Maddy, and with Reif’s permission, we are reprinting it for our Sentinel readers. Maddy currently teaches and coaches at Great Bend High School. He is the son of Bill and Connie Maddy of Stockton.

The September 16th Sentinel will include our annual Homecoming Feature, with individual pictures of the Tiger athletes (football, volleyball and cross country), coaching staff, Cheer and Dance sponsored by local merchants, organizations, and individuals.

The Stockton Junior High Volleyball Team will open its season next Monday, August 30 when the Lady Tigers host Ellis and Trego in a triangular. Action is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.

The Stockton High School Football Team will travel to WaKeeney on Friday to compete in a Jamboree with Oberlin, Quinter and the host Golden Eagles. The scrimmages will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers will officially open their season on Friday, September 3, when they host the Thunder Ridge Longhorns in a game set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

The Stockton Lady Tigers Volleyball Team will open the 2021 season with a junior varsity tournament in Phillipsburg this Saturday. The matches will begin at 9:00 a.m.

It's time to stock up on shotgun shells and get in some shooting practice as the annual dove season begins Wednesday, September 1st, running until November 29th. The daily bag limit of 15 applies to mourning and white-winged doves, single species or in combination. There is no limit on Eurasian collared or ringed turtle doves, but any taken in addition to the mourning and white-winged dove daily bag must have a fully-feathered wing attached while being transported. The possession limit is 45 (mourning and whitewinged doves).

Congratulations to team, Good Times, for winning this summer's Adult League season-ending tournament. The group played a great couple games to win against team, Dirty Birds. Also playing this year were the following teams: Hahn, Muir, and Mound Pounders.
