Hamel places second at home meet last Thursday

Johnny Hamel had another impressive outing last Thursday, placing second at the cross country meet held at Webster State Park. The meet, which is hosted by Stockton, featured runners from Downs-Lakeside, Ellis, Phillipsburg, Lincoln, Natoma, Osborne, Palco, Plainville, Smith Center, Stockton, Sylvan-Lucas, and Thunder Ridge. With a time of 19:08.70, Hamel, a sophomore, was just 11 seconds behind the winner of the 5000 meter race, senior Sam Pinkerton of Phillipsburg, who crossed the finish line in 18:57.20.

SJH Volleyball sweeps Leoti/Wichita County

Last Thursday the Stockton Tigers hosted the Leoti/Wichita County Indians in junior high volleyball and football action. On the volleyball court the SJH Lady Tigers swept their opponents with the A Team winning 25-18, 25-18, the B Team winning 27-25, 25-21, and the C Team coming out on top 25-15, 25-18.

The Stockton Lady Tigers traveled to WaKeeney last Tuesday, September 7, for a volleyball triangular with TMP and the host Lady Eagles. Unfortunately it was a rough night for Stockton as the girls were defeated by both teams.

Lady Tigers finish fourth at Trego Tournament

Despite having several players gone, the Stockton Lady Tigers were able to earn a fourth-place finish at the Trego Invitational varsity volleyball tournament held at WaKeeney last Saturday. Other teams competing included: Deerfield, Northern Valley, Oakley, Osborne, Russell, Trego and Wallace County.

Stockton falls to Logan/Palco 58-14

The Stockton Tigers were on the road to Logan last Friday for a non-league contest with the Logan/Palco Trojans. After spotting Logan/Palco a 36-0 lead, the Tigers were defeated 58-16.

Johnny Hamel wins Norton cross country meet

Stockton sophomore Johnny Hamel picked up where he left off last season when, as a freshman, he earned a 13th-place medal at the 1A State Cross Country Meet with a time of 17:33. The season opener in Norton last Thursday found Hamel capturing first place, running the course in a time of 18:45, 13 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

SJH Lady Tigers open season with two wins

The Stockton Junior High Lady Tigers opened the season with two wins on Monday, August 30 following the triangular held in Stockton. The the Lady Tigers’ A Team downed Trego 25-23, 25-21, and then took care of Ellis 25-19, 25-27, 15-13.

Last Thursday the Stockton Junior High Tigers hosted the Trego Golden Eagles in Mid-Continent Elementary League volleyball and football action. The Stockton volleyball girls were defeated in each of their matches.

In the varsity girls’ opening matches of the 2021 volleyball season, the Stockton Lady Tigers traveled to Phillipsburg to take on Ellis and the host Lady Panthers in a triangular. Stockton faced the Lady Railers in the first match, falling in three sets, 14-25, 25-16, 18-25.
