Dennis Michael Kirby, 73, of Bonner Springs, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
He was born on April 5, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Curtis N. Kirby Sr. and Anna Marie (Thoele) Kirby. One of six children, he spent his early years in the Muncie area before his family moved to Bonner Springs during junior high school. He graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1970.
Hong Quang Nguyen, 60, passed away at his home in Hays on March 14, 2026.
He was born on June 14, 1965, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Nguyen Thi Ngot. In 1989, Hong came to the United States, first settling in Houston, then Dallas, before moving to Garden City, and eventually making his home in Hays.
On March 14, 1998, Hong married Truong My Phuong “Sarah” at the Ellis County Courthouse. They shared many years together in Hays, where they raised their family.
Roberta June Hashenberger, age 86, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Hays.
She was born in Portis, Kansas, on June 29, 1939, to William and Leeon (Griswould) McDaneld., On November 24, 1957 she married Vernon Gene Hashenberger in Plainville, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Roberta was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose family was very important to her. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, particularly drawing and acrylic paints. She also enjoyed baking, especially wedding cakes.
Lisa Janelle (Pahls) Merklein, 62, passed away in Salina, Kansas, on March 12, 2026, after an 8-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born on August 26, 1963, in Beloit, Kansas, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Jean (Schroeder) Pahls.
Lisa grew up on a farm southwest of Tipton, Kansas. She graduated from Tipton High School's Class of 1981 and later earned a business certificate from Beloit Vo-Tech.
Deborah Ann (Berland) Pfannenstiel, 75, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by love from her family.
Debbie was born on January 15, 1951, in Stockton, Kansas, to Alverize and Blanche (Kerr) Berland. She graduated from Palco High School in 1969 and, on June 12, 1971, married the love of her life, Linus Pfannenstiel. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others.
