Nola Nadine (Bane) Turnbull, 91, of Plainville, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Hays Medical Center in Hays.
She was born on March 30, 1934, in Webster, Kansas, to Lennie and Louria (Stice) Bane.
Virginia Lee (Schmidt) Engborg, 89, of Plainville, went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2026, at Redbud Village in Plainville.
She was born on December 23, 1936, in Leesburg, Va., to Clarence A. and Nora (Lancaster) Schmidt. She graduated from McPherson High School and attended Ottawa University.
Sharrelle Janay Shinn, age 33, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2026.
She was born on November 7, 1992, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, to Harold Shinn and Candra Jo (Palmer) Shinn.
Sharrelle grew up in Stockton and later in Norton, where she attended Norton Community High School. During high school, she enjoyed art and volleyball.
Following high school, Sharrelle worked in insurance billing for Valley Hope Association, at Walmart, and later in housekeeping and home healthcare, where she genuinely loved her clients.
Fenton Jerome “Jerry” Horton, age 90, of Hays, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Hays.
He was born March 18, 1935, in Salina, Kansas, to Forrest and Thelma (Traylor) Horton.
Jerry lived a life marked by kindness, service, and a curiosity about the world around him. A devoted family man, he found his greatest joy in the relationships he nurtured and the example he set for those he loved.
A Come-and-Go Celebration of Life for Dena Joy Beck, of Stockton, will be held Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, at 105 South Foster in Stockton.
Dena passed away on February 7, 2026, in Plainville, Kansas, at the age of 84.
She was born on September 10, 1941, in Akron, Colorado, to Richard and Velma (Bueholz) Elliott.
Dena grew up in Akron, where she met Alva Beck, and they were married on December 20, 1958, in Akron, Colorado. Alva preceded her in death in 2011.
Jennie L. Longnecker (Mayhew), passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, Virginia, on February 18, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, creativity, and joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Chalmer and Anna (Cerrow) Mayhew; four sisters, Jean, Betty, Charlotte, and Gladys; two brothers, Roy and Darrel; and her cherished husband of 72 years, Paul M. Longnecker.
Michelle (Shelly) Lee Nuss, 55, of Phillipsburg, Kansas, passed away on February 26, 2026, at her home surrounded by her children following a courageous battle against cancer. She was born on February 1, 1971, in Clifton Springs, New York.
Shelly was, above all else, a loving mother and proud grandma.
She had a deep love for her family and cherished time spent together—whether that meant cooking, gathering everyone around the table, or cheering passionately for her favorite lifelong team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Richard Lee “Dick” Ramsey, 82, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026.
Dick was born July 12, 1943, to Mark and Caroline (Ludeke) Ramsey in Holdrege, Nebraska.
He attended Agra High School, Kearney St. College, Brown-Mackie College, and SMU Graduate School for Banking.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Zoller; his children, Jeffrey Ramsey (Jill) and Stacey Cleary (Jim); his grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, and Grant; and his brother, Mark Ramsey.
