Woodston Fire Department called for mutual aid

The Woodston Fire Department was called out for mutual aid to 657 Avenue in Alton on Monday evening, February 15th at 11:00 p.m. They arrived on the scene to help with a structure fire. They fought the flames for over two and a half hours, but the structure was a total loss.

Hallie McCall to join medical team at SCFP

Hallie McCall will join the medical team at Smith County Family Practice as a physician assistant. She will begin practicing in the clinic in February while awaiting final paperwork from the state.

RCH New Year’s Baby for 2021

LITTLE KEVIN KROM claimed the title of RCH New Year’s Baby for 2021 after entering the world at 12:43 a.m. on January 1, 2021. He is the son of Dawn Hepple and Skye Krom of Phillipsburg. Baby Kevin, who weighed 4 pounds, 5 ounces and was 14 inches long at birth, is doing fine at home.

Second case of UK variant identified in Kansas

A second Kansas case of the United Kingdom, or UK, variant known as B.1.1.7, has been identified in Sedgwick County. The first case was identified earlier this month in Ellis County. A case investigation has been conducted and close contacts notified.

KDOT announces approved January bids

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place Jan. 20, 2021, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.

Honor Society Inductees
