(Continued From Last Week) April 1—Stockton Seniors Leighton Colburn, Brayden Wallace and Logan Winklepleck were named Kansas Honor Scholars. Marjorie Mae Jones, Emery LaVerne Hart, Lester “Lee” Smith and Betsy “Betty” Jan Sell Cunningham passed away.

A crew from the Kansas Geological Survey, based at the University of Kansas, will be in western Kansas measuring groundwater levels the first week of January 2022.

The Stockton Fire Department was called out approximately 11:30 Tuesday morning, January 4th, for a possible structure fire at 422 Main Street in Stockton. Smoke was visible from the old Smith’s building once the front entrance was opened.

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place Nov. 17, 2021, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.

Governor Laura Kelly announced Monday, January 3, 2022, that total tax collections for December were $890.3 million. That is $64.5 million, or 7.8%, more than the monthly estimate. That is also a 15.6%, or $120.0 million, growth over December 2020.

Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas will be getting new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) thanks to a $7,200 grant from the Heartland Community Foundation.

The Rooks County Commission met on Tuesday, December 28th and met with road and bridge supervisor Rich Bouchey. The crew is wrapping up on the bridge prep work with the time schedule for the installation of the new bridge to begin in early January.
