The Rooks County Commission met for its weekly meeting on Tuesday, September 28th with commissioners John Ruder, Greg Balthazor and Tim Berland in attendance. After the commissioners approved and signed the September 21st regular minutes, they received an update from clerk Ruthmary Muir about the County’s ARPA funds.

The Stockton USD 271 Board of Education held a special board meeting on Friday, October 1st. Those present were board members Mark Billinger, LeAnn Dix, Daphne Plumer, Jesse Stithem, Aftan Tso, Stephanie Niblock, superintendent Bill Lowry and grade school principal Stacey Green. Board member Linda Conyac was absent from the meeting.

The Stockton FFA Greenhand and Senior teams, who both placed first in the Northwest District Land and Homesite Judging Contest in Goodland, qualified for Nationals! The article had that they had qualified for State. Way to go, Stockton!

The have each had the distinction of earning the rank of Eagle Scout during their lifetime…a rank that only 4% of those who have participated in the Boys Scouts of America (BSA) youth programs have achieved.

Caleigh Iwanski could not have asked for a better ending to her youth career in the Kansas Quarter Horse Youth Association (KQHYA) than winning the bronze in the World Championships in the Level 3 Ranch Trail Competition in Oklahoma City, Okla. this past August.

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a pair of resurfacing projects on U.S. 24 and K-184 in Thomas County the week of Sept.

It’s time once again for the Stockton PUMPKIN PATCH, which will materialize in the Stockton City Park located on west Highway 24 on Saturday, October 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 3rd from12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.

Since purchasing The M Motel in Stockton last April owner Linda Morgan has been putting her own unique touches to the facility, but keeping the “midcentury modern” look that was the original theme of the motel. The changes include a color scheme of cool blues and tans, and of course more mid-century modern furniture in the lobby area, one grouping being a lovely couch and end tables she purchased from the Waller/Coolbaugh Mansion.
