There are currently fourteen active cases of COVID-19 in Rooks County and two individuals in the hospital due to COVID-19. Rooks County has a two-week positivity rate of 32.7% as of Friday, October 29th, 2021. USD 271 Stockton has zero active cases in our district as of Thursday, October 28th, 2021.

For the second time in two years, Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas held its awards ceremony as a virtual event on October 19th. The event was made virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic. Staff, individuals served by DSNWK and community people were given recognition through a live stream presentation and a special video that both appear on the DSNWK website www. dsnwk.org.

Andrea Dix receives prestigious Wendell G. Mohling award

Congratulations to Andrea Dix, Stockton Elementary Science and Math Teacher, who received a $1,000.00 check and plaque as the statewide winner of the 2021 Wendell G. Mohling Foundation Scholarship Award in an assembly at the school on Wednesday, October 27th. The award was presented by scholarship award founder Carol Mohling.

Nova Theatre changing to Fall/Winter showtimes this weekend!

The Nova Theatre will be changing to its Fall/Winter showtimes this weekend, November 5th through November 7th. Friday and Saturday movies will remain at 7:00 p.m. with Sunday changing to the matinee showtime of 2:00 p.m. This weekend’s movie is “Dune,” rated PG-13. See you at the movies!

St. Joseph’s Church Homecoming Bazaar to be held on Saturday, Nov. 6th

The 2021 St. Joseph’s Church Homecoming Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 6th, at Richland Township Hall in Damar. The afternoon event will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Mass at the church, followed by a Free-Will Donation Social Hour at 5:00 p.m. at the Hall. Dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. and will consist of pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, corn, salad, dessert and a drink. The cost is $12.00 for Adults; $6.00 for Children 5 through 12; and FREE for Children 4 and Under. Also starting at 5:30 p.m. will be Kids Games and Prizes! Two dollars ($2.00) will buy a ten-game punch card and $6.00 will buy an unlimited fun card! The raffle prize drawings will be held at 7:30 p.m. along with a LIVE Auction of a very clean and well-maintained 2003 Toyota Tacoma SR5 pickup with a 4x4 automatic transmission and 75,000 miles. (This is a memorial donation from the Gene and Anna Mae Normandin family with the sale proceeds to go to the bazaar fund.) Time for the Library’s Parade of Christmas Trees

It's time again for the annual Parade of Christmas Trees at the Stockton Public Library! Library staff is asking for your help to make their 37th year a huge success by having your organization, business, classroom or you as an individual put up and decorate a tree! ANYONE can enter! The theme for this year's Olde Tyme Christmas is, “Rudolph Leads Us Home for Christmas." You may follow the theme or choose whatever theme you wish for your tree. Don't have a tree?? No worries! The Library has 15 or so trees available to borrow on a first come, first served basis.
