Ah, Sunday! The sacred day where we kick things off with church, singing loudly enough to scare away the demons, and pretending we actually understand the sermon without zoning out. Sorry, Pastor Ted! I only zoned out for a minute, and your singing is fine.

Divination is defined as 'the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.' Acts 16: 16-18 describes an encounter between Paul and a slave girl possessed by a spirit of divination. In this passage, Paul and his companions are in Philippi when they meet a girl who earns money for her owners by predicting the future.

The weeks are flying by, and since fall is my favorite season, I wish things could slow down. I found some small blooms on the lilac bushes. This has happened before, and although tiny, they still smelled wonderful.

The Rooks County Board of Commissioners met with the following members present: Chairman Tim Berland and members Tracy Rudman and Jake Prockish. Laura Montgomery, County Clerk, was present to record the minutes. Tonia Goertz with Plainville Times was present to write a report for the newspaper. Berland called the meeting to order and asked all to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The agenda was accepted as presented.

Did you know that God wants you to take His Word to others? Last week, we mentioned the Great Commission as Jesus’ instructions to his disciples and how Paul and others carried out this commission during their journey throughout Asia. This week, we examined Paul’s preaching to Lydia of Philippi.
