A good shower brought a welcome half-inch of rain during the night on Monday, July 10. Last Friday afternoon, a small hurricane-type storm blew through, dumping .80 in our gauge with wind, and moved south and east. Once again, the creek and terraces had water.

And So They Say

Body
Dale Anderson: “When I was a tiny, little tike, my parents took me along and we visited an elderly man who lived in an old railroad car out in the middle of a field in western Kansas. Now, this guy was a genuine genius and knew a lot of things. His name was ‘Confusion.’ I wanted to pass along one of the things he taught me many years ago, so that you all can start being geniuses like him and me. ‘Confusion’ said, ‘If you get sick and tired of bugs flying around in your face, you can always cut a hole in the back of your britches and that should take care of it.’” Sandy Hudson, Osborne: “If the time comes for me to have to live in a nursing home, I don’t care whether or not my diaper is changed on time, but I want my kids to make sure my gray hairs are always colored. ”

APPLES. It's an old saying: 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' In the case of Ahaziah, he was like his dad and his mom. He became king of Israel after his dad, Ahab, died. And he only reigned over Israel for two years. God's Word says of him, 'He did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother' (1 Kings 22:52). That way was the way of utter wickedness. It was the ten northern tribes that rebelled against God and transitioned to worshipping the non-god named Baal. In other words, they left the worship of Jehovah God, the Creator. The Bible says specifically that Ahaziah 'served and worshiped' Baal and that he 'provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger according to all that his father had done' (1 Ki 22:51). The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Though the specific situation is unclear, we see that Ahaziah falls through the 'lattice' in an upper room of his palace and apparently falls to the floor below. How does he respond? Does he repent of his wickedness and return to worshiping Jehovah God? Nope!
