The Stockton Junior High Volleyball girls got off to a successful start in their season opener against the visiting Trego Lady Eagles last Thursday in Stockton. The A-Team Tigers dominated Trego in the first set 25-8, but the back-and-forth action in the second set ended with the Lady Eagles winning 25-23.

The Stockton Lady Tigers moved their record to 3-1 on the season after splitting in high school volleyball action last Tuesday at home. The battle of the blue and white teams was an exciting one, with the evenly-matched squads fighting hard for the wins they got.

Cheyenne Hoeting places 7th at TMP cross country meet

Stockton’s lone cross country athlete, senior Cheyenne Hoeting, earned a seventh-place medal at the Thomas More Prep Monarch Invitational cross country meet, her first competition of the season. Hoeting, who competed against 50 other runners, crossed the finished line of the 3.1-mile race in a time of 21:07.73.

SHS Lady Tigers sweep competition at Natoma

The Stockton Lady Tigers got off to a good start last Friday, sweeping their competition in volleyball action at Natoma. The Lady Tigers downed Chase 25-11, 25-16, and then defeated Natoma 25-16, 25-19.

Youth and Disability Deer Season opens Saturday, September 6th

Youth 17 and younger, who possess a valid deer permit, may hunt during this special deer season only (Saturday, September 6th through Sunday, September 14th) while under the immediate supervision of an adult 18 or older. Any person who possesses a valid deer permit and has a permit to hunt from a vehicle pursuant to K.A.R. 115-18-4 or a disability assistance permit issued pursuant to K.A.R. 115-18-15 may also hunt during this season. All resident and nonresident permits are valid, and equipment restrictions designated on permits apply. Hunter orange is required.
